Founded in 1971, National University is the second-largest private university in California with the third largest graduate program in the country. National University is a thriving private university that is the gateway to the future for some 22,000 students. The school is not just another university, but also the producer of some of California’s political, business and educational leaders.
National University’s alumni read like a who’s who of professionals in the state of California and beyond. From CEOs to Mayors, National University has helped them all achieve their dreams to become leaders in their respected fields. In 2007, there were three teachers of the year in California, and two have been nominated in 2008.
National City Chief of Police Adolfo Gonzales says, “National University definitely played a major role in my advancement to Police Chief of National City.”
Gonzales, a 1986 graduate of National University with a BPA, states that he is proud to have attended National University because of the reputation of the school as a producer of leaders.
National University is not only producing leaders, but it also serves as a leader in granting the most masters degrees to Hispanic Americans and African Americans in California. This is a staggering statistic considering the competition that National University faces with prestigious schools like UCLA, Stanford, UC Berkeley, USC, and Cal-Poly (San Luis Obispo).
The University is regionally accredited by the Western Association of Schools (WASC), and participates in the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality program, which recognizes leadership, quality and overall institutional performance. This commitment to excellence is one of many reasons why National University is set apart as a producer of leaders in California and beyond.
